— Head spa

How much is a Korean head spa in Coon Rapids?

$130 for 60 min, and $152 where hair is longer or thicker — the second price buys a longer appointment rather than charging more for the same one. A $30 deposit holds the booking and comes off the bill on the day.

The hour opens with a look at your scalp, then works through staged deep cleansing, exfoliation around the follicles and a long scalp massage, and finishes with serums, a mask or oils. Your hair is blow-dried before you leave. Combinations run longer: $185 for 90 min of head spa and facial, $250 for the full 120 min of head spa, facial and massage. Every row is on the menu page.

Why the scalp and not the hair

A salon basin cleans hair in a couple of minutes. A head spa spends most of an hour on the skin underneath it — the oil, product and dead skin that gather around the follicles while the furnace runs from October through April. Indoor heat does more to a scalp over a Coon Rapids winter than the weather outside does.

What it costs to bring someone

Nothing extra for the room itself. Two guests book two ordinary appointments in it, at whatever those two treatments cost — two head spas, or a head spa and a massage, or a head spa and a facial. Call (763) 317-6018 so they start together rather than an hour apart.

— The room

Can two people have a head spa at the same time?

Yes. Both head spa tables sit in one room, and the room joins or divides. A full-height privacy curtain runs between them, so a couple can share the hour and two friends who would rather not can still book the same slot.

That room is also what makes the 120 min combination straightforward — head spa, then facial, then massage, with nothing to move between. Small groups book the same way; call (763) 317-6018 so the appointments are placed side by side rather than an hour apart.

— Staying local

Do I have to drive to Minneapolis for a head spa?

No. This one is on Northdale Boulevard in Coon Rapids, with free parking directly in front and a door you can see from your car.

The training behind it came from further away. Fiona was born in China, spent about thirteen years in South Korea, and arrived in Minnesota in 2016 speaking no English — she tells that story in her VoyageMinnesota interview. She took her massage therapy degree at Northwestern Health Sciences University and her advanced esthetics at Saint Paul College, holds licenses as both a massage therapist and an esthetician, and goes back to Korea every year for continuing education.

Who else works here

Four therapists alongside Fiona. Jing, Irina R and Gabrielle all work across massage and head spa, which is why the head spa room runs on more days than one pair of hands could cover, and Nicole P handles the widest range of skin treatments. Their bios are on the about page.

All FAQs →

Where are you?

+

3183 Northdale Blvd NW, Suite B, Coon Rapids, MN 55433 — the suite number is painted on the door as 3183B. There is free parking directly in front.

What are your hours?

+

Mon, Wed–Sat 10 AM–6:30 PM · Sun 12–5 PM · Closed Tuesday. The Tuesday closure is the one people get caught by, so it is worth repeating: the studio is closed all day Tuesday.

How much does a head spa cost in Coon Rapids?

+

$130 for the 60 min Korean–Japanese Head Spa, and $152 if your hair is longer or thicker — that second price is not a surcharge for being difficult, it is a longer appointment. Combinations start at $185. A $30 deposit holds the booking and comes off the final bill.

How long does a head spa take?

+

60 min. Combinations run longer — 90 min when a facial is added, 120 min for head spa, facial and massage together.

Should I wash my hair before I come?

+

No. The scalp is assessed as it normally is, and your hair is washed during the treatment. Arriving freshly washed hides the thing the therapist is trying to see.

How often should you get a head spa?

+

Frequency depends on your scalp, hair, product use and goals. Your provider can recommend a schedule after seeing your scalp.

Do I need an appointment?

+

Yes — this is an appointment-based studio. Book online any time, or text (763) 317-6018; the team may be with guests, so texting usually gets an answer faster than calling. Same-day slots do come up, but the head spa room is the one that fills first, so a few days' notice helps.

Why does booking ask for a deposit?

+

Several treatments hold a therapist and a room for an hour or more, so those take a card deposit of $30 to $60 at booking. It is not an extra charge — it comes off what you pay on the day.

— Research & references

A head spa is a wellness treatment, and the parts of it with published background are the massage and the scalp itself. Worth reading in their own words: the NCCIH on massage therapy , the AAD on seborrheic dermatitis — the medical name for scalp dandruff , healthy hair and scalp care and when shedding is worth a dermatologist's opinion . These are general references on the subject, not statements about what our treatments do. Treatments at Fiona's Day Spa are wellness and beauty services. They are not medical care and they do not diagnose, treat or cure any condition. If you have a scalp, skin or health concern, see a physician or a dermatologist.
