— Skin

Which facial should I book first?

The Customized Facial — 60 min, $135. Your skin is looked at before anything is chosen and the treatment is built from there, which is more useful than picking a name off a list before anyone has seen it.

From there the menu runs both ways. The Refresh Express Facial is $60 for 25 min when that is the time you have. The Anti-Aging Facial is $150 for 60 min and works through exfoliation, deep cleansing, facial lifting, moisturizing and targeted serums.

Peels and dermaplaning

$70 for dermaplaning and from $70 for a chemical peel, twenty-five minutes each, exfoliating by different means. A chemical peel works chemically and reaches deeper; it is used for texture, tone, acne scarring, hyperpigmentation and sun damage. Dermaplaning works mechanically and also takes off the fine vellus hair on the surface, which is why makeup sits flatter afterwards.

The American Academy of Dermatology publishes a plain-language overview of chemical peels worth reading before a first one. Skin is more sensitive to sun for a while afterwards, so sunscreen stops being optional.

— Who does it

Who will be doing the treatment?

A licensed esthetician, on every facial, peel and dermaplane. Fiona took her advanced esthetics at Saint Paul College and her massage therapy degree at Northwestern Health Sciences University, and holds licenses in both.

Nicole P has worked as an esthetician for more than ten years and carries the largest share of the skin menu. Fiona's route here ran through China, about thirteen years in South Korea, and an arrival in Minnesota in 2016 with no English — she tells it herself in VoyageMinnesota. She is studying for an RN now, and returns to Korea each year for continuing education.

— Winter skin

Why does my skin feel worse every February?

Indoor heat, mostly. Anoka's furnaces run from October to April and the air they produce carries almost no moisture, which is a different problem from the one August causes and asks for a different treatment.

A customized facial handles it by changing in the middle: cleansing, the exfoliation your skin wants that day, extractions where they are needed, a mask and a hydrating finish. The AAD's everyday skin care guidance covers the other twenty-nine days. If something on your skin is changing, bleeding or not healing, see a dermatologist before booking anything cosmetic.

How often is often enough

Every four to six weeks, roughly the pace at which skin replaces its surface cells. Significant sun damage or persistent breakouts are often worth treating closer together at first and then spacing out as things settle.

— Beyond facials

Do you do anything stronger than a facial?

Three things. Nano Infusion is $130 for 25 min; microneedling or nano needling is $260 for 60 min with a $60 deposit; and CO₂ fractional skin resurfacing and IPL skin rejuvenation are available by consultation.

The last two are deliberately unpriced on this site. Neither is bookable online, because the plan depends on your skin type and what is being treated — call (763) 317-6018 and the consultation is arranged. The FDA publishes device guidance on microneedling if you want to read first. The skin care page covers the rest.

Tell us what you are already using

Retinoids, acne medication, recent sun exposure and pregnancy all change what can safely be done on the day. Say so when you book rather than at the door; most treatments are adjusted around it.

— Massage

Where can I get a massage near Anoka?

East along Highway 10, at the same address — $95 for 60 min of relaxation work, $110 for deep tissue, $110 for hot stone and $135 when 90 min is the better length. The massage menu runs $95 to $150.

Anoka spends the back half of October on its feet. The Halloween Capital of the World puts its crowds out on Main Street and along the parade route for weeks, and a few evenings of standing on cold pavement shows up afterwards in the low back and the calves.

Deep tissue, hot stone or relaxation

Deep tissue for a knot you can point to, hot stone when the cold has left everything stiff, relaxation when the hour itself is the point. Hot stone is $110 for 60 min and $150 for 90 min, and the stones carry heat down into the muscle before any real pressure is applied. You set the pressure out loud once the appointment starts — say when it is too much and the therapist eases off.

Asked before booking.

All FAQs →

What kinds of massage do you offer?

+

Four: relaxation (60 or 90 minutes), deep tissue (60), hot stone (60 or 90) and sports (60). Prices run from $95 to $150, and a licensed massage therapist performs all of them.

Chemical peel or dermaplaning?

+

A peel exfoliates chemically and reaches deeper; dermaplaning exfoliates mechanically and also removes the fine vellus hair on the surface. Peels are used for texture, tone, acne scarring, hyperpigmentation and sun damage. Dermaplaning is used when you want makeup to sit flat and products to absorb. Both are 25 minutes and start at $70.

What does microneedling do, and how is nano needling different?

+

Microneedling encourages the skin's own collagen production using controlled micro-channels; nano needling works at the surface with no penetration of the dermis, so it is gentler and has essentially no downtime. One 60-minute appointment covers either, at $260 with a $60 deposit, and which one you get is decided at the consultation.

My skin is sensitive. Is a facial still a good idea?

+

Usually yes, with the treatment adjusted. Say what has irritated your skin before, what you are currently using, and whether you are on any prescription skincare — retinoids and acne medications in particular change what can safely be used on the day.

Can I get a facial while pregnant?

+

Tell us when you book. Several actives, including some peel formulations, are avoided during pregnancy, and the treatment is built around that rather than cancelled.

Do you offer laser treatments?

+

CO₂ fractional skin resurfacing and IPL skin rejuvenation are both available by consultation. Neither is bookable online and neither is priced on this site, because the plan depends on your skin type and what you are treating. Call to arrange the consultation.

What are your hours?

+

Mon, Wed–Sat 10 AM–6:30 PM · Sun 12–5 PM · Closed Tuesday. The Tuesday closure is the one people get caught by, so it is worth repeating: the studio is closed all day Tuesday.

Where are you?

+

3183 Northdale Blvd NW, Suite B, Coon Rapids, MN 55433 — the suite number is painted on the door as 3183B. There is free parking directly in front.

— Research & references

Skin treatments are worth reading about before you book one. The American Academy of Dermatology and the FDA publish plain-language guidance on every one we offer: AAD — chemical peels , microneedling , what lasers and light devices treat , FDA — microneedling devices and medical lasers . General references from dermatology and regulatory bodies, not claims about an individual result. Treatments at Fiona's Day Spa are wellness and beauty services. They are not medical care and they do not diagnose, treat or cure any condition. If you have a scalp, skin or health concern, see a physician or a dermatologist.
