— The difference

Microneedling vs nano needling — what is the difference?

Depth. Microneedling creates controlled micro-channels that reach into the dermis; nano needling works at the surface and does not penetrate it, which is why it carries essentially no downtime. One 60 min appointment at $260 covers either, and which one your skin gets is decided after it has been looked at.

That is why the price does not split into two: the decision belongs to the start of the appointment, and you are not asked to make it at a booking page a week earlier.

Microneedling — micro-channels into the dermis

The treatment the studio describes as a cosmetic treatment that encourages the skin's own collagen production. It is the deeper of the two and the one the FDA has authorised device uses for, which is covered in the next section.

Nano needling — the surface version

Nano needling stays above the dermis. It is the gentler option of the two, it is the one usually chosen for skin that is reactive or for a first appointment, and it goes back to ordinary life immediately afterwards. Same 60 min, same $260.

Nano Infusion is a different appointment

Nano Infusion is its own 25 min booking at $130 with a $50 deposit — nano infusion therapy, used for concerns such as fine lines, pigmentation and scarring. It is shorter, cheaper and separate, and it is the one people confuse with nano needling most often. Both appear on the full menu.

— Uses

What is microneedling used for?

The FDA's authorised uses for microneedling devices are narrow and specific: facial acne scars, facial wrinkles and abdominal scars, in patients 22 and older. Those three are the regulator's list, not a marketing one, and the work done at this studio is facial.

The treatment encourages the skin's own collagen production through controlled micro-channels — the studio's own description of it, and the mechanism the FDA's device category is built around.

Acne scarring and texture

Facial acne scars are first on the FDA's list, and they are the concern most people book this appointment for. The AAD's guidance on microneedling to fade scars sets out what the treatment is used for and how a course is usually structured.

A professional appointment and a home dermaroller are not the same thing

The AAD's conclusion on this is direct: microneedling performed by a trained professional gives better results than at-home dermarolling, and it comes with the instruction to protect treated skin from the sun afterwards. A 60 min appointment at $260 buys the professional version of a treatment sold online for a fraction of it.

Ask what device is being used

Not everything sold as microneedling is the same device. The FDA has published a safety communication about certain uses of radiofrequency microneedling devices, which is worth reading if you are comparing studios. Ask what is being used on your skin wherever you book.

— Before

How do you prepare for microneedling?

Book it with a few quiet days after it, arrive with clean skin, and bring an accurate list of what you use. Makeup comes off at the start of the appointment in any case, so there is nothing to do about that beforehand.

What to tell us when you book

Any prescription skincare, any acne medication, anything that has irritated your skin before, and whether you are pregnant. Retinoids and acne medications in particular change what can safely be done on the day — the same rule that applies across every facial on the menu, applied more carefully here.

The deposit and the 24-hour window

A $60 deposit is taken at booking and comes off what you pay on the day. Cancellations need 24 hours' notice; later than that is charged 50% of the service cost. Both are set out in full on the FAQs page.

— After

What is the aftercare after microneedling?

Sun protection, and leaving your skin alone for a few days. The AAD attaches the sun instruction directly to its microneedling guidance, and its application rule is to cover every bit of skin clothing does not, before you go out, and reapply at least every two hours.

The rest of the aftercare is given to you at the appointment, because it depends on which of the two treatments your skin received and on what your usual routine contains.

Spacing, and how many appointments

Microneedling is usually a series, and the spacing is decided for your skin at the appointment. Facials here sit on a four-to-six-week rhythm as a general matter, and a needling course is planned against that rhythm.

— The price

Why is microneedling $260 a session?

$260 buys a full 60 min with a licensed esthetician, and the same $260 covers microneedling or nano needling, because which one your skin receives is settled once it has been assessed. There is no cheaper tier that turns out to be the shorter treatment.

Who you are booked with

Fiona owns the studio and is a licensed Advanced Practice Esthetician. She trained in massage therapy at Northwestern Health Sciences University and in advanced esthetics at Saint Paul College, and returns to Korea each year for continuing education. Nicole has worked as an esthetician for over ten years. The about page has both. Ask who you are booked with when you call.

What the deposit is and is not

The $60 is not an extra charge. It holds an hour of a therapist's day and a treatment room, and it comes off the total on the day. Four other treatments on the menu take one for the same reason, between $30 and $60.

— The drive

How far is it from Champlin?

4.1 miles, about a nine-minute drive. The route crosses the Mississippi and comes into Coon Rapids from the west; Northdale Boulevard NW runs off Highway 10, and the studio sits in Suite B with 3183B painted on the door.

Champlin sits on the Hennepin side of the river and has no head spa of its own, so the crossing into Anoka County is the short trip most of the north metro is already making. Guests also come in from Anoka, Andover, Blaine, Ramsey, Brooklyn Park and Fridley — the areas we serve page has the route from each.

Parking and the door

Parking is free and directly in front of the suite, so there is no ramp and no meter to think about. The suite number is painted on the door as 3183B.

The Tuesday closure

Mon, Wed–Sat 10 AM–6:30 PM · Sun 12–5 PM · Closed Tuesday. The Tuesday closure is the one people get caught by. Same-day slots do come up, though a few days' notice gives you more of the day to choose from. Contact and directions has the map and the phone number.

— Step by step

From booking to your next appointment

One 60 min appointment at $260, booked online or on (763) 317-6018. The consultation happens at the start of the appointment, so there is no separate visit to book.

  1. 1 Book the appointment and pay the deposit Microneedling or Nano Needling, 60 min, $260, with a $60 deposit taken at booking and applied to the total. 24 hours' notice to change it.
  2. 2 Arrive five minutes early You will be asked what you want out of the appointment and what to avoid before anything begins. Bring the list of what you use on your skin and anything you are prescribed.
  3. 3 Your skin is assessed, and micro or nano is chosen Microneedling reaches into the dermis; nano needling stays at the surface. The choice is made here, and it does not change the price.
  4. 4 The treatment The appointment runs the full 60 min. Makeup comes off at the start, and the skin is prepared before anything else happens.
  5. 5 Aftercare, then the spacing You leave with the aftercare for the treatment you were given, and sun protection is the part of it that never changes — the AAD's rule is all exposed skin, reapplied at least every two hours. Microneedling is usually a series, and the next appointment is planned before you go.

— Common questions

Asked & answered.

What does microneedling do, and how is nano needling different?

+

Microneedling encourages the skin's own collagen production using controlled micro-channels; nano needling works at the surface with no penetration of the dermis, so it is gentler and has essentially no downtime. One 60-minute appointment covers either, at $260 with a $60 deposit, and which one you get is decided at the consultation.

How much is microneedling in Champlin, MN?

+

$260 for 60 min, with a $60 deposit that comes off the bill. The studio is in Coon Rapids, 4.1 miles from Champlin and about a nine-minute drive, and the price is the same whether the appointment turns out to be microneedling or nano needling.

Is nano needling the same as Nano Infusion?

+

No — they are two different bookings. Nano needling is the surface-level version of the 60 min needling appointment at $260. Nano Infusion is its own 25 min treatment at $130 with a $50 deposit, used for concerns such as fine lines, pigmentation and scarring.

What does the FDA say microneedling devices are for?

+

The FDA's authorised uses are facial acne scars, facial wrinkles and abdominal scars, in patients 22 years and older. It has also published a safety communication on certain uses of radiofrequency microneedling devices, which is the one to read if you are comparing what different studios use.

How many microneedling sessions will I need?

+

Usually a series. The number and the spacing are decided for your skin at the start of the first appointment, and the next booking is planned before you leave.

Is at-home dermarolling the same thing?

+

No. The AAD's position is that microneedling performed by a trained professional gives better results than a home dermaroller, and its guidance also covers protecting treated skin from the sun afterwards.

What should I do about sun afterwards?

+

Cover up and use sunscreen properly. The AAD's instruction is to apply it to all skin clothing does not cover, before you go outside, and reapply at least every two hours. That part of the aftercare applies whether you had microneedling or nano needling.

Can I book microneedling while pregnant or on prescription skincare?

+

Tell us when you book. Retinoids, acne medications and pregnancy all change what can safely be done on the day, and the appointment is built around that rather than cancelled at the door.

Why does booking ask for a deposit?

+

Several treatments hold a therapist and a room for an hour or more, so those take a card deposit of $30 to $60 at booking. It is not an extra charge — it comes off what you pay on the day.

What is the cancellation policy?

+

We value both your time and ours. Should you need to reschedule or cancel an appointment, please provide a minimum of 24 hours' notice to avoid incurring any charges. Cancellations with 24+ hours' notice are not charged. Late cancellations and no-shows are charged a fee equal to 50% of the total service cost.
